Quantity of water = 3x litres On adding 6 litres of water, we get \begin{aligned}&\Rightarrow\frac{4x}{3x+6}=\frac{8}{7}\\ &\Rightarrow28x=24x+48\\ &\Rightarrow28x-24x=48\\ &\Rightarrow4x=48\\ &\Rightarrow x=\frac{48}{4}\\ &\Rightarrow x=12\\ &\text{∴ Required quantity of milk}\\ &\text{= 4x}\\ &\text{= 4 × 12}\\ &\text{= 48 litres}\end{aligned}
