$\begin{array}{l}\text{Let the second number be x}\\ \text{Then, first number = 2x}\\ \text{3rd number = 4x}\\ \text{∴ 2x + x + 4x = 56 × 3}\\ \text{⇒ 7x = 168}\\ \text{⇒ x = 24}\\ \text{∴ Required difference}\\ \text{= 4x – 2x}\\ \text{= 2x}\\ \text{= 2 × 24}\\ \text{= 48}\end{array}$
